BERTHOLDE LÖFFLER (born 1874 Nieder-Rosenthal; died 1960 Vienna) studied at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts under Kolo Moser. He co-founded the Wiener Keramik with Powolny in 1906. Distribution and sales of works from this firm was taken over by the Wiener Werkstätte in 1907. Löffler taught at the Vienna School of Arts and Crafts from 1909 until 1935 where he was the teacher of Kokoschka, amongst others. He was an important painter, graphic artist, and designer as well as a teacher of great influence.
