FRIEDRICH CHRISTOPH HAUSMANN was born in Vienna
in 1860 and was a pupil of Hellmers at the Academy there. From 1891 he became a
resident of Frankfurt where he took over first the modeling class at the Academy of
Arts and Crafts and later became the head of sculpture at the Städel Kunstinstitut.
Hausmann worked mainly in the area of decorative sculpture and thus his many sculptural drawings.
He contributed numerous monumental sculptures for public buildings in Darmstadt
and Frankfurt as well as producing frescos, bas relief, fountains, memorials and busts.
He designed much of the official silver for the city of Frankfurt. He died in 1936.
