Willy Paul Rudolf HABL was born on 26 August 1888 in Egeln.
After studies in Kassel, he lived and worked in Hamburg. He made study trips to Italy,
Belgium, Hungary and Romania. From 1914 Habl tended to work in an impressionistic style in oil,
watercolour, and as a graphic artist. He later taught in Hamburg where he died in 1964.
