FRANZISKUS DELLGRUEN was born on 14 October 1901 in Cologne.

1917 – 1922 Pupil of the Schüler der Kunstgewerbeschule (College of Arts and Crafts) in Cologne.

1923 – 1927 Meisterschüler (master pupil) of Professor Robert Sterl at the Akademie of Dresden. He was also a guest student of Oskar Kokoschka.

Dellgrün received the Jubiläumsstipendium der Stadt Dresden (anniversary scholarship of the city Dresden) in 1927.

1928 After a study stay in Italy he went to Berlin.

1928 - 1931 Master pupil of Max Slevogt at the Akademie der Künste (Academy of the Arts) in Berlin. Work as freelance artist in Berlin. Exhibits in the Berliner Kunstausstellungen.

1943 Virtually the entire work of Franziskus Dellgruen destroyed by bomb.

1945 Continues to work in Berlin until his death in March, 1984.
Examples of works are in various German galleries and collections.
